A group of La Zubia women have been weaving more than 30 woolen scarves over the past few months. They have also created a large purple bow that is more than 60 meters in length. It will be displayed on Casa Pinta’s facade until March 30th.

This solidarity initiative was held to mark International Women’s Day. It will also help expand the library at Albolote Prison. These neighbors, whose association has been called Las Tejedoras de Suenos are going to exchange their scarves and homemade cookies for books for the inmates at the Granada prison.

Rebeca Sanchez and Natalia Arregui are the councilors of Equality and Citizen Participation of La Zubia. They point out that the exchange of solidarity scarfs and cookies for book will be held on the 30th of the month at Casa Pinta. The large purple bow, which will guard the facade of the building throughout this month, will be removed.

Julia Patricia Canigueral Jimenez, granddaughter of Enrique Jimenez “Gabiarra”, baker at El Horno de Ana, made the cookies. Also, new and used books for children and adults will be collected.

Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia thanks the Weavers of Dreams as well as all the women of La Zubia who participated in this project for their enthusiasm and dedication to helping the Albolote jail. Managers have already expressed their appreciation to La Zubia and other municipalities for this amazing solidarity initiative>>
