Staden The parents of the children from the local school have their stroke at home removed. Mayor Francesco Vanderjeugd (Open Vld) pulls his decision to the local school from 1 september to close. Vanderjeugd’s insight came after discussions with the parents. The school remains open until 2022.

The mayor got the last week a lot of anxious parents over the floor. “One of the recurring arguments was about the timing of the closure,” says Vanderjeugd. “After consultations we have decided that concerns to take to heart. We remain with our decision to the local school in Staden to close and will continue to go to the limit for the development of a new school in the Bruggestraat. But we choose for a uitdoofscenario without new inflow. The school will therefore remain open until 2022.”

This means that the toddlers and preschoolers their kleuterjaren can be switched on and that the children who are now in the first grade sit up to and including the fourth grade. Only for the three children that are now in the third toddler to sit, a solution must be found. “The first grade does not start on 1 september. We offer our partners of the school community Staho with the guarantee that the school indeed will close it. So there is no inflow, but for brothers or sisters of children already in school, we make an exception. For the staff of the school will change in the coming year nothing. As the uitdoofscenario progresses, we will solutions have to be found, but that may be now in peace.”

“Why we have this uitdoofscenario not immediately placed on the table? In the first place, I don’t think that the protest of the parents there is less to would have been. On the other hand, we got from the Flemish onderwijskoepel for Cities and Municipalities advice to for the short pain. But our apologies to the many concerns that we at everyone have created. With this decision we hope to be of comfort to offer.”
