the Police have registered a total of 7838 speeding in Denmark last week.
It shows a statement made by the national Police.
the Police in the period from Monday 1. april to Sunday 7. april carried out targeted actions against violations of the speed limit in traffic.
– The check shows that there are still too many drivers who are driving too fast and thus exposing themselves and others at risk, says Christian Berthelsen from Rigspolitiets National Færdselscenter in a press release.
He stresses that there is a clear correlation between the move on the roads and the number of people killed and injured.
speed kills and is still a problem for road safety and requires, therefore, the police’s continued attention, he says.
– When speed is of the weather increases both the distance the car running before the driver reacts, and the car’s stopping distance.
Of hastighedsoverskridelserne the first week in april was a little over 2800 excess of the general speed in the cities.
More than 1600 was in excess of the general speed on the roads and highways. And just under 5000 was exceeded the posted speed on the roads, among other things, where the speed was reduced due to road works.
– Some of the speeding that we’ve found this week is hovedrystende, where we have examples of speeds close to 200 kilometers an hour, and it can die if it goes wrong, says Christian Berthelsen.
the accident risk is, however, not equal for all types of roads.
100 miles an hour on a highway is less dangerous than 100 kilometres an hour on a country road or urban roads.
It is because a highway is made for those high speeds, and only running cars and trucks.
Highways and urban roads is, however, made for much lower speeds. In addition, traffic is more complex, since both pedestrians, cyclists and automobiles are present.
From 2012 to 2017, lost 416 persons life in a traffic accident where one or more of the parties ran too strong in relation to the permitted or the situation.
In 28 percent of these accidents were the go cause of that accident was fatal.
