Volvokombin is bloody on the driveway in front of the red villa already in the film öppningsscen – talk about a emblematisk picture of the crushed familjeidyll. ”Jurtjyrkogården” is also a movie without the frills and subtleties, but plenty of skrämseleffekter.

given that this is the second time that Stephen king novel filmatiseras know the audience what to expect: a pastoral escape from the city, don’t go according to plan, a doctor who becomes motbevisad if the impact limit, a personlighetsförändrad kissekatt, and so on.

Skräcknestorns novels continues to pop up in new guises in the 2010s. It remains well to see if any dare in ”The shining” after ”Carrie”, ”It” and ”Jurtjyrkogården”.

starts the same way as the Kubrick classic from 1980, with the ominous aerial photographs of a family on the drive to their new home without a clue as to which dogs, cats and other pets who are buried on the plot.

Mary Lamberts ”Jurtjyrkogården” from 1989 is a mature videobutiksfavorit. The convinced, admittedly, not the critics when it came out but got a whole generation to return to the skräckhyllan, under similar ritual forms that the local kids bury their pets in the Kings story. And in both cases these are places where children can get acquainted with death.

In the 2019 years ”Jurtjyrkogården”, the atmosphere is not as peculiar, and the result is more psychological tillrättalagt. John Lithgow feels, therefore, for example, are more harmless and good-natured as the elderly neighbor than the Peace She. It is at the same time, a cleverly orchestrated mörkervandring that recreates the allure to all of the omens in the woods, plus a custom variant of the scene that evoked the eternal lastbilsskräck with me in the original.

Since 1989, the horror genre also got a general facelift and hear now at home in filmkulturens mittfåra, which means that the ”Jurtjyrkogården” reminiscent of the contemporary haunted skräckfamiljer in movies like ”The conjuring” or ”Lights out”.

Nothing wrong with it – the film contains satisfactory many sequences that cause it to twitch in the eyelids and ila along the spine.
