India claims in its tour to the country has shot down a pakistani fighter aircraft, something that is denied by Pakistan, writes Reuters.”

“Pieter Wezeman, vapenexportexpert at the peace research institute Sipri, says that the Swedish radarspaningssystemet Erieye may have been used in the ongoing conflict, because there is information that Pakistan has been using american F16 aircraft in the fighting.”

“– There is a real risk that the Erieye has played a role in the battles where aircraft fought against each other. Erieye is an important system to be able to discover the indian aircraft, and a system with Natostandard that works very well together with the F16, so I would be surprised if not Pakistan use of it, ” says Wezeman TT.”

“– the Risk is that it may lead to that India believed that it has a new ability you can use against Pakistan, but it will be a miscalculation and that the situation is escalating, ” he says.”

“the ISP is Following the developments.”

“the Swedish Inspectorate of strategic products (ISP) has not approved any new vapenexportaffärer to Pakistan since 2007, but follow-on deliveries for the previous orders (Erieye was approved in 2006). Saab has been given the green light to sell the Gripen to India.”

“Carl Johan Wieslander, deputy director-general of the ISP, do not, however, comment on whether the latest developments affecting the future följleveranser to Pakistan and the export of arms to India.”
