France could be the construction of the Baltic gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 against Germany. The political impact would be enormous – in the EU gas policy.
In Polish TV it was the Top news story: France turns against Nord Stream 2 and thus against Germany, does not want to stop this project, despite Russian domination. It is really so, it would be a blow to the much-vaunted Franco-German relations.
But also against a project that is half finished and already a lot of money has swallowed up: 600 to 1200 kilometres between Russia and Germany are misplaced, warned the head of the Austrian Mitinvestors OMV, Rainer Steele. He insists: “From a European perspective, with a view to the security of supply in the Pipeline is essential. In Europe we have a decline in gas production. So we need more imported gas”.
