Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said on Saturday that his Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior could return from injury “before the six weeks” initially planned, but did not wish to give a precise date.
“He is recovering very well, we must not force his recovery, but he is doing well, he is increasing the workload,” Ancelotti explained at a press conference.
“Next week I think he will be able to start working with the team. I think he will be restored before the six weeks announced,” added the Merengue coach.
Vinicius suffered a biceps femoris injury in his right leg during the league match against Celta Vigo on August 25 and has been sidelined since.
The Madrid coach also joked about the absence of his Brazilian striker among the candidates for The Best award, awarded by FIFA.
“He cried for three or four hours,” Ancelotti quipped.
The Italian technician also announced that his French full-back Ferland Mendy, injured, was not yet ready to return to the group.
