The former UN High representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Briton Paddy Ashdown, is dead. The highly respected politicians, died on Saturday evening after a short illness at the age of 77 years, the liberal Democrats said in London. He was from 1988 to 1999 Chairman of the party. Ashdown was given last November, announced that he was suffering from bladder cancer.

Ashdown have an “immeasurable contribution to advancing the cause of liberalism”, explained his party. He will be missed “painful”.
