Four years after Exceptional and a successful detour through the series (In Therapy), Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache prove with A difficult year that they have lost none of their sense of comedy and their talent for capturing the air time. It is polluted here since the tandem features environmental activists who carry out actions to curb the mad race of the Anthropocene world.
Among them, Noémie Merlant, funny and moving as a radical eco-anxiety (from her diet to her apartment without furniture). She does not leave Albert and Bruno indifferent, two over-indebted losers who join the movement for their beautiful eyes as much as to eat crisps to the eye.
The duo Jonathan Cohen and Pio Marmaï sparks, transforming any seemingly banal scene into a burlesque moment. Mathieu Amalric completes the cast as an over-indebtedness counselor addicted to the casino. All this does not prevent Toledano and Nakache from venturing successfully on the side of the romantic comedy. And to film a memorable waltz during a superb finale. A must see after a scorching summer and before the end of the world. The film is slated for theaters on October 18.
