Brazilian pole vaulter Thiago Braz, 2016 Olympic champion and 2021 bronze medalist, has been provisionally suspended for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Friday, three weeks before the Worlds in Budapest (19- August 27).
“The AIU has temporarily suspended Thiago Braz for the presence or use of a prohibited substance”, in this case ostarine, a product generally used to increase muscle mass, writes the AIU on its social networks.
Braz (29), who was potentially qualified for Budapest, was crowned Olympic champion in Rio in 2016, then bronze medalist at the Tokyo Games in 2021. He is also vice-world indoor champion in 2022 and finished fourth in the Outdoor Worlds-2022 in Eugene (United States) last summer.
