Through the Andalusian Health Service, Poniente Sanitary District (Almeria) and the Association for the Fight against Fibromyalgia El Ejido, a collaboration agreement was signed to promote talks for the dissemination of fibromyalgia among doctors and health professionals. The aim is to increase patient care and improve primary care consultations.
This program is being created on a rotation basis at the heads of each clinical management unit. It is valid for one-year. The program includes face-to-face information talks on chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, as well as testimony from those who have it.
Poniente Health District in Almeria has thus appointed a health professional from each of the health centres to coordinate the agreement. It has also committed to inform doctors and provide support for the distribution of information brochures, and awareness.
Alfiel, on his part, acts as an interlocutor in order to ensure that the goals are met through a participation monitoring commission and the personnel required for the proper development of the program.
Enriqueta Quesada, manager of Poniente Sanitary District stated that Alfiel reached out to this district to inquire about the need to make Fibromyalgia more visible.
For her part, Alfiel’s president stressed that the agreement was a crucial step for the association. They are our family physicians, the first person we call to discuss what’s happening and to ask for help.
