Antwerp Albinism and two eyes that they are only a feet away can see. Easy to start the life of Lisa Winckelmans (21). She is years and years of being bullied. Later avenges them on her bullies. She is 18 years old and in no time – “I learned in a half day walk on high heels” – one of the top models of our country. Yet half a year later she leaves the catwalk for what it is: a piece of road that has nowhere to go. Lisa wants to be a model for everyone. In no time collect them almost 4,000 fans on Instagram. “I am different. What a happiness.”
See you Lisa Winckelmans (21) in addition to her mother Molly, you would never suspect that the close bond between those two also blood. Molly, Zimbabwaans, beautifully tinted. Lisa, paler than Pete Doherty on a blue Monday morning. She falls on, that pale girl, not only her skin, just as well by her laughter. Crack Lisa out laughing, then laugh with them. Any resistance is hopeless.
“The great future, that I saw not”
Nevertheless, she was not always so merry. “They have me for years bullied at school because I have albinism”, says Lisa. “On the street they called me ‘albino’. That hurt, I was unsure and pulled me back. I was sure of that, because I was different, I never would kick. I also see very, very, very bad, the subtitles of the tv is not reading. Out, I dared not, just walking on the street is scary when you are barely a meter for you to see. And also my skin would always be pale to continue. The great future, which I saw not.”
As the relationship with her boyfriend breaks down, she is 17 years old, Lisa starts a blog. “It was already summer and I had nothing to do. I thought: ‘I have not’ and wrote down everything off of me. It’s crazy, but people found that blog interesting. They found me interesting, my problems, my albinism, who I am.”
On the street they called me ‘albino’. That hurt.

They can also be noticed in the streets of Brussels. There she is scouted by the world of fashion. She gets a business card and ask if they have a fashion show to walk. “Not me, I thought, but mom thought that I had a look around had to take. A few days later I had my first runway walk. I had never in high heels stood. In a half-day did I learn how to walk. Why me out of all those girls have chosen, I still don’t know. I was a head smaller than the rest.”
It is the ultimate revenge on the bullies of her high school. In no time she is on the top. “I worked the whole day, my mailbox thing-without ceasing. And yet. After six months I left the catwalk behind me.” Lisa sigh. “It’s not my world. I Had a lot of money can earn? Of course. But what is that worth?”
