The former cardinal in the roman catholic church in the united states has been expelled after allegations of sexual abuse, write the american media, on Saturday.

Theodore McCarrick, today 88 years old, is accused, among other things, to have committed abuse against a teen when he worked as a priest in the early 1970s.

the former cardinal does not get to keep his office thus becomes historic, it’ll be the first time that a cardinal or bishop will be avkragad in the united states, writes the New York Times.

during the last year of his service on the College of Cardinals after the allegations surfaced. He says he has no memory of the events he is accused of and the alleged abuse might now be time barred and thus not be tried in a court of law.

Within the church is deemed the data, however, to be credible, writes the BBC. The measure has been approved by pope Francis and may not be appealed.
