Daniel Guardia, a waiter aged 33 who works in the cafeteria of University of Granada’s Faculty of Psychology. Since around four years, he has been serving students every day in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Psychology at University of Granada. He always makes sure they feel comfortable and smiles. This is a unique service that not all waiters can offer, and it has made a lasting impression on students who have had breakfast there between classes.

Pablo Castro, a speech therapy student, was one of them. He became fascinated by Dani’s work and decided to pay him a small tribute. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Dani for his hard work. He is more than a waiter. He treats you as if he were a close friend, a family member. Pablo tells IDEAL that he always asks you how you are doing and tries to make your day brighter. Pablo was inspired by UGR’s treatment of Dani to make a gesture to acknowledge her.

He did it using a publication on Twitter. In the thread, he explained how Dani’s attention helped students and helped them escape, even temporarily, from all of their problems. “I thought about it for a while, because I couldn’t keep calm if he didn’t thank me for his work. But I didn’t expect it to have such an impact. What started out as a gesture of appreciation has become a viral tribute for the waiter.

Already, the publication has received more than 393,000 visits to date and more than 5,000 “likes”. “I was surprised. I use social media but I’ve never received so many messages.” He is most happy because so many people can see Dani’s great work and know that the waiter will be happy reading it. The truth is, Pablo’s message surprised the protagonist of the tribute. Dani acknowledges that she was “very excited and surprised” for a few days.

He believes that the most important thing is to feel part the project and to help students disconnect. He always gives them lots of love and tries to make it a positive experience. It was very touching to see the tweet and the photo. It has been very rewarding to receive many messages. They have made me feel valued for my work as well as for how I treat others. He acknowledged that his family and friends were “very surprised” but said that everything was “very nice.” “I wish all the best for the students and that they will continue to pursue their dreams.”
