Next Saturday, May 11, Cullar Vega will be celebrating its most beloved pilgrimage. Hundreds of people will take part from all over the Vega. This tradition, which is held to honor San Isidro (patrons of farmers), will be held on Avenida del Olivar in El Ventorrillo. As every year, the parade will add to the event’s charm.

Consistory organized its annual contest. It will award the most decorated floats with 100 and 200 euros as first and second prizes, respectively, as well as a diploma. Their leading role will be taken by the well-known ‘pipos’, or porrones. These were decorated by students from the municipal Drawing and Painting workshops. The appointment will begin at 12 in morning.

Hundreds of sardines are to be distributed at the pilgrimage to “pay a special tribute to the palate,” courtesy Jorge de Cullar Vega Fishery. The City Council will also invite its neighbors to a glass wine, according to sources from the Consistory. The Azabache dance school, the charanga Llena Que Nos Vamos and Splendor will all perform during this day of peaceful coexistence among families and friends. J. Garcia, the ‘disc jockey’, will also entertain the crowd.

Jorge Sanchez, Cullar Vega’s mayor, stated that every year, more people participate in the celebration. “It always takes place on Saturday near the day of San Isidro in a privileged location: an olive grove overlooking the impressive mountains of Sierra Nevada, Vega de Granada>>. Ma Angeles Polo, the Councilor for Festivities encourages residents to “actively participate in one the most authentic and traditional festivals in our town, which will allow us all to enjoy a day in coexistence between all.”
