Sint-Martens-Latem, The Federal Judicial Police (PJF) has Monday a cannabisplantage rolled up in Sint-Martens-Latem. A total of 500 plants – good for a retail price of 100,000 euros – found. Eight gang members were arrested.
The federal judicial police of East-Flanders was the gang for a while on the track. Monday morning, eight gang members held on the parking of Carrefour in Sint-Denijs-Westrem. They were caught red-handed during a drugstransactie. In the subsequent search warrant were approximately 500 plants were found, representing 11 kilograms of pure cut cannabis. That drugs were in the trunk of a car found in the parking lot of the Carrefour. It was during the search and one suspect arrested.
The plantation in question is now dismantled. “The organization that is responsible for the setting up of the plantation, comes mainly from the Bulgarian environment from Bergen-op-Zoom in the Netherlands,” says police chief Patrick Willocx of the FGP. “Some of the Bulgarians were also in the house where the plantation was found.”
The defendants were before the magistrate led which 8 gang members were detained and transferred to prison. The suspect during the search, was arrested, was allowed after the hearing. The drugsvangst follows a week after almost 1.5 tonnes of cocaine was found on a cargo ship in the port of Ghent and is once again a great victory for the FGP.
