MALLORCA: Sportskjedene got a fantastic start last year. The total turnover increased with all 10,59 per cent in the first quarter of 2018, figures from the Norwegian Sportsbransjeforening.
An adventure for skiglade
– No one is as concerned about the weather as the farmers, fishermen and sportsbransjen. The first quarter of last year was a fairy tale for people who love to go skiing, ” says Trond Evald Hansen, adm. director of the Norwegian Sportsbransjeforening.
– It is only in Russia that there is, overall, sold more pairs of skis than in Norway. Overall, was it sold 380.000 pair of skis in Norway in 2018, and 75 percent of this was felleski. And when people buy skis, they buy like also gloves, thermal underwear and hat too, ” he continues.
– But the fourth quarter is important, and then sank the chains ‘ sales by 0,36 percent?
– Yes, but the fourth quarter of 2017 was very good. In the central eastern norway got snow already in november that year. A turnover of 4.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018 is also good, ” says Hansen, who also designates other and – especially – the third quarter of last year as “surprisingly good”.
Sykkelboom
– It is well made to increase when the summer is so hot as it was last year. It sold not many skalljakker when the temperature is so high. But it was sold many bicycles; especially elsykler. We estimate that it was sold about 50.000 elsykler last summer.
the Overall turnover in sportskjedene for 14,2 billion in the year-ago quarter. This is an increase of 3,42 per cent from the year before.
– Changes in salgskanalene is great. Pure internet service providers are taking large shares, providers such as Norrøna have their own shops and outlets are on the rise. All of this taken into consideration is a rate of growth for the chains of 3.4 per cent very good, ” says Hansen.
the Strongest growth in the last year had Sport1 and XXL, which increased by 4,74% and 4,57% in the last year. Faghandelskjeden Sport Norway near doubled its turnover, but this is a new chain in the making.
Unclear for MX-Sport
the MX-Sport, which last fall announced a closure of the chain, shows a omsetningssvikt on 22,65 percent in the last year.
We reported in 2018-the turnover of the approximately 60 shops, but the MX-chain ceased to exist at the end of last year, says Petter Bjørheim, who leads the company T., mountainous country & Co.
Some MX-Sports-shops are today members of the Sports in the Uk, Sport1, and the Stadium-chain.
– What happens with the remaining MX-Sports-stores?
– Apart from a few which are terminated or replaced the chain, operated stores as before without kjedeavtale, but with the MX-logo if they want it. Our main task is to make sure that this will be profitable for all. How our structure is not yet completely set, but we own 14 shops in the day, and deliver both to them and to the other stand-alone stores, said Bjørheim.
Sport Norway in growth the Greatest of all is the XXL, which in 2018 had a market share of 32,5 per cent. After them follows the G-Sport/G-Max/Intersport with a market share of 29.3 per cent.
Towards the end of last year went XXL-chief Ulf Bjerknes on the day after the disappointing sales on Black Friday. The company also came with a very negative profit warnings that sent the share price in the new downhill.
“It will be exciting to see how the chains’ margins will be in 2018, ” says Hansen in the Norwegian Sportsbransjeforening.
Sport Norway was established in 2017, and took it over some MX-Sports-shops. Revenue increased by 96 percent in 2018, and the chain had a market share of 1.6 per cent in the last year. Sports Norway is owned by Invent the Sport, which also owns Sports Outlet chain.
– We increased from six shops in the 2017 to 12 stores in 2018, ” says Sport Norway-chief Tor-Andre Skeie.
– And you are expanding further in the year?
– Yes, we plan to pass the 20 shops in 2019, and we expect a revenue growth of between 50 and 60 per cent.
Expect growth in 2019
Sportsbransjen is in great change. According to the trade association was sportskjedene for 90 per cent of the turnover in the sportsbransjen three years ago. In 2017, this proportion was reduced to 74 per cent. Outlets and the suppliers ‘ own shops stood this year for 10 per cent, pure nettaktører for 9 percent and shops that are not affiliated with sports brands for 7 per cent.
” We expect new changes in the shares when we calculate 2018. There is certainly a trend that sportskjedene is cautious to open new stores, ” says Hansen in the Norwegian Sportsbransjeforening.
– How do you see the prospects for sportskjedene in 2019?
It is a good winter on the central eastern norway also in the year, and it sold a lot of ski, but it will be difficult to turn revenue in the first quarter of last year, ” says Hansen.
Other channels continue to take shares, but we forecast a small growth for sportskjedene also in 2019. Several of the chains came with good solutions in 2018, ” he continues.
