Thanks to the cooperation and union of the Purchena City Council with the Almeria Provincial Council and the Junta de Andalucia, the residents of Purchena now enjoy a renovated Health Center. The opening of works to adapt and reform this building has been celebrated by the municipality. This will improve the quality of the health care services provided to the purcheneros.

Particularly, Matilde diaz, provincial deputy of PFEA, Juan Miguel Tortosa and Juan de la Cruz Belmonte were the ones who inaugurated the work. This was possible due to investments by the PFEA (inwhich it also participates with the Government of Spain), Acelera Program of Provincial Council and municipal funds.

Five actions have been taken under the Acelera Program. These include the remodeling of the toilets, providing an accessible toilet for the outpatient clinic, and the renovation and installation of air conditioning.

A project to improve accessibility and energy efficiency at the Health Center was also undertaken through the PFEA. To reduce the slope to the interior, a wide and uniform pavement was created. To ensure efficient air conditioning, both the roofs as well as the facades have been given thermal and sound insulation.

PFEA has received 58,000 euros in investment and created more than 500 jobs. This is an example of institutional cooperation and it has raised its investment efforts to more than 14.8million. It will be used for 238 works in 87 cities.

Tortosa the mayor of Purchena stressed that the project had achieved the City Council’s goal of renewing one the most essential services residents receive: the bathroom. Today is an important day not only for Purchena but for the whole Almanzora region. Thanks to the cooperation of institutions, we continue to improve our services and will be able to launch additional services in the next months.

Matilde Diaz, deputy, highlighted the importance institutional collaboration in improving services for the citizens of Almeria. This work shows on the one side the importance the Diputacion to respond to the needs the municipalities; and the PFEA as a catalyst to employment and an element of improving infrastructures and institutional collaboration. Without the support of today’s administrations we wouldn’t be here at Purchena>>.

Juan De la Cruz Belmonte (territorial delegate for Health) stressed the importance to have access to health services in all municipalities. Accessible to all areas and users. This was evident during the covid-19 pandemic, which brought attention to all Almeria’s towns and villages. “With the new health center, we are also reviving its medical staff, which has been replaced by Fulgencio Sanchez, the nurse, and Evaristo Jimenez, the doctor.
