for over 60 years, Bentley produced the iconic 6,75-litre large V8 engine, and it is, therefore, the V8 engine, which has been produced for the longest time. But now it’s over, for Bentley has constructed the last copy of the big eight-cylinder engine.
This was stated by Bentley, in a press release.
The last copy of the V8 engine was, like all of its 36.000 predecessors handcrafted by a team of experienced mechanics.
– Our venerable 6,75-litre V8 has supplied forces to the Bentleys flagskibsmodeller in more than six decades and has thus earned the right to a pension. I am extremely proud of the generations of skilled craftsmen, who carefully collected all these engines through the years, says Peter Bosch, member of the board at Bentley, in a press release.
– this engine has stood the test for so long is a testimony to the brilliant engineers, who continued to make the engine more powerful, refined and reliable. Now we look forward to Bentley’s future, which is driven by our unique W12, sporting the 4.0-liter V8 and, of course, our efficient V6 hybrid – the start of our journey towards electrification, he says.

Where to put it so that the last copy of an iconic motor going when it is produced? Bentley put the engine in the 30. and the last version of a hyldestmodel of the Mulsanne model specifically designed to honour the engine.

the Engine was developed in the 1950s, and when it was ready for production, it was at 6.2 liters, but was drilled up in 1971 for the 6,75-litre, as it has since become famous for.
Now, though, it is officially over for the big iconic Bentley-motor, among other things, to retire, as it can’t live up to the EU’s udledningskrav.
Bentley motors in the future will be a W12, a 4.0-liter V8 and a V6 hybrid.
