Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro, was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday afternoon. According to information from the TMZ media, the lifeless body of the 19-year-old young man was discovered by one of his friends sitting on a chair. A police source reportedly told the Dailymail that a white powdery substance was found next to him. This same source explained that he had found no trace of violence or trauma.
On Instagram, Robert De Niro’s adopted daughter, Drena posted a photo of her son along with a painful message. “You were so deeply loved and appreciated, and I wish that love could save you. I’m so sorry baby, I’m so sorry Carlos Mare (Leandro’s father). Rest in peace and eternal paradise my darling boy,” she wrote.
In an interview with the media Poeple, Robert De Niro said he was “deeply upset” by the death of his grandson. “We greatly appreciate everyone’s condolences. We ask that we be granted privacy to mourn the loss of Leo,” he added.
Leandro De Niro had started an acting career with a small role in the musical A Star is Born, alongside Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. He played Leo Stone, the son of Paulette, herself played by Drena De Niro. It was not the first time that the young man shared the screen with his mother. They had already given the reply in The Collection in 2005, then in Cabaret Maxime in 2018.
