Atresmedia’s board of directors has named Javier Bardaji as CEO to replace Silvio Gonzalo, who will become executive vice president. According to a company note, the appointment of Bardaji (general director of Atresmedia Television), “guarantees continuity of Atresmedia’s strategic project, that has experienced notable growth over the past years to become the leading Audiovisual Group in our country.”

Javier Bardaji stated after his appointment that he will assume this new role “responsibly” and “with great enthusiasm”. I do it with the confidence that I have a great team of professionals and people. I am also grateful to the Board of Directors for their trust in me and my ability to meet this daunting challenge. As the Board of Directors did, I want to acknowledge today the immense task that Silvio Gonzalez has undertaken as head of the company. Silvio, whom I was able to work with in recent years has been a great leader and role model for us all.

Jose Creuheras (president of Atresmedia) thanked Gonzalez for his “dedication and brilliant work throughout all these years as CEO” and welcomed Bardaji into this role. His outstanding leadership at the General Directorate for the Television Business, where he has established himself as the undisputed leader in the Spanish audiovisual market, is his endorsement. He will guide Atresmedia to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves over the next years and reach new heights of success.

Javier Bardaji (Barcelona 1966) holds a doctorate from the University of Navarra in Audiovisual Communication and a degree from the University of Navarra in Information Sciences. PDD (1995) in Business Administration, IESE. He completed the Digital Transformation Senior Management program at IESE in 2019.

Since April 2019, he has been a member of Atresmedia’s board of directors. In March 2010, he was named CEO of Atresmedia TV. He was previously the General Director of Multimedia, Director of Communication, and Director of Corporate Marketing for the Atresmedia Group. He promoted the Group’s first Corporate Social Responsibility policies. He was Antena’s Director of Content between 2003 and 2004. He was previously Assistant to Grupo Vocento’s Audiovisual Area General Director and Director of Editorial Coordinating and Institutional Relations.

He was named Executive Chairman and CEO at Atlas, a Mediaset Group Company in 2002. He was previously the deputy director general for Corporate Affairs at Mediaset.

The Television Academy, the Advertising Academy, and author of several publications including “From Antena 3 through Atresmedia passing though LaSexta” (Edic. Deusto, Bardaji is a regular teacher. He is an associate professor of Audiovisual Company at the Faculty of Communication of University of Navarra as well as a professor of Master in Management of Communication Companies of that university. He is also an audiovisual system structure professor at Villanueva University.
