Aalst In the Hekkestraat in Hofstade is a fire in an apartment on the first floor a cannabisplantage discovered. The tenants of the building 82 and 57 years old. The fire was around 21: 30 in the plantation itself. “This kind of practices can we not tolerate,” says mayor Christoph D’haese.

The owners wanted to first not that the fire department came and the fire will naturally follow would be deaf. It soon became clear why. “The fire was the plantation on the first floor discovered,” says mayor Christoph D’haese. “The plantation was very professionally built. How many plants are there just were, is not clear”, it sounds. “The residents are effectively the plantation itself maintained, is not yet known, but this will certainly be further explored”, says the mayor.

Christoph D’haese has been longer a fight against drugs, and is glad that the plantation, as comes to light. “This is really not at home with us.” The house ran through the fire also caused considerable damage. A dog that is on the ground floor spent, could be saved. The occupants were transported to the hospital. What further happened with them will happen, is not clear. “I will now proceed with the competent authorities”, says the mayor. “Maybe the jail was the only appropriate place.”
