With the thirteenth Lambchop Album since 1994, frontman Kurt Wagner dares to a Premiere: The Cover of “This (Is What I Wanted to Tell You)” is pressed for the first time, a portrait photo of him. However, the song writer, guitarist and the only constant of the Band from Nashville discovers to his 60. Birthday is not suddenly a new vanity.

Probably it is rather his way to say: “I’m still here.” The long history of Lambchop he had never considered self-evident: “surprised To some extent, it is me again and again that it goes on. I’m trying to look neither too far in the future nor in the past.”

And so farewell to Wagner in the last decade, more and more of Lambchops past as an Alternative-Country Band. Time the orchestra came to be, was enhanced with electronic Sounds. The last work “Flotus” a bit of a surprise in 2016, with voice effects such as Autotune, greetings to experimental Hip-Hop works and with “The Hustle”, a piece that lasted 18 minutes.

With “This” deepens Wagner this journey of musical research. “I call this the process of processing Voice. It is a kind of extra paint on my Palette. I have built up the whole disc so that I could demonstrate my skills as a singer,” he told the web magazine “Gaesteliste.de”.

This is Caused “” in close cooperation with Matt McCaughan, who worked as a percussionist for Bon Iver, and – in addition to the long-standing companions, Tony Crow on keyboards, and Matt Swanson on Bass on the current Tour. In terms of the live implementation of “This”, this Album moves between Ambient, Jazz, electronics, and Dreamy Rock, an aural experience, this combination is promising. Almost as a Declaration of Wagner “This is the new not normal sings”.

At the end of the album, with the “Flower” but also a Song that dispenses with acoustic guitar, any vocal effects. Maybe a sign that Kurt didn’t break Wagner, but with the past of Lambchop.
