“the Movie did, like most of Lars von Trier’s movies, scandal in Cannes.”
“And ”The house that Jack built” is said to bring extremely mixed feelings of the audience. From worship to disgust.”
“Always scandalous Lars von Trier’s new film is at times horribly unpleasant.nMen also amusing in a slightly crazy way. Maybe because it is so empty of emotions. Actually I think only the Danish director driver with us who see the film.nFilmen takes place in a godforsaken village somewhere in the northwest USA. The time is the 1970s. The music is ”Fame” by David Bowie.nJack (Matt Dillon) is a failed architect who time and time again the river, the house he starts. It goes better for him as the serial killer. Over 60 victims. We get to follow some of them during the film’s five ”incidents”. Among other things, a woman (Uma Thurman) breaks down. A mother of two (Sofie Gråbøl) and a little intelligent bimbo (Riley Keough), who he is dating.nGenom the years, Lars von Trier has rightly been praised for his multi-faceted portraits of women. Here he seems to have deliberately written female roles which are alternately sympathetic or intelligensbefriade.a few scenes belong in what you usually call ”tortyrporr”. Shooting of children. Mutilation of body parts. von Trier is the rare inventive and unpredictable when it comes to finding the sinister and awful things. People who never see the horror – or seriemördarhistorier, will think it is a despicable and sick film. Others will be attracted to the film and make it to the cult of the very same reasons.nvon Trier is an insanely skilled and manipulative director. In some scenes, we are as well as in Matts head and see the events from his warped sick perspective. Then replikskiftena sometimes even funny.nSedan are here very many pieces where Jack is reasoning with his conscience (recently deceased Bruno Ganz) about everything from the killing to the pianist, Glenn gould’s any merit. Repetitive slogans. von Trier cuts even of the incomprehensible reason, in scenes from their previous movies. Maybe this is a bizarre farewell to the film industry, what do I know. The length of the ending from hell is totally pointless.nOavsett genre, it has in the past felt like that Lars von Trier wanted to say something about the human soul. He has been a kind of more morbid Lars Norén.yet, I wonder whether he is not just sitting at home and scoffs for all the people who will try to make profound analyses of a film completely blank of emotion.”

“did YOU KNOW… Riley Keoughs grandmother is Priscilla Presley? Her legendary grandfather Elvis Presley she was never hit, he went away twelve years before Riley was born.”
“JUST NOW… it seems that Lars von Trier’s next project is a number of short films. “
