The book
Darren Matthews is wearing a Stetson. And on the chest, proud to be a star. This is the brand of the Texas Rangers, he would have to leave today, his boss in Houston. Because Darren has been suspended, because he was, in the opinion of his chiefs too strong for a black boyfriend who is accused of murder. Darren is a self black, a rarity in the kind of Federal police force, and he has written the prosecution of hate crimes on the Flag. He knows that his life and his marriage would be easier if he would be so on race cases include, but he can’t help it.

On the trail of a racially-motivated murder of the Hero of the crime novel “Bluebird, Bluebird has landed” the Afro-American Texan Attica Locke in the Lark in East Texas, and his boss has pushed the suspension. In the town a Black man was fished out dead from the Bayou. Two days later, the corpse of a young White was stranded. Usually, something is not working here in the area, Vice versa.

Against the will of the local Sheriff, the Ranger involved in the investigation. Quickly, he Keith in their sights, the husband of the dead waitress, who is trying to join the Aryan brotherhood of Texas. “Keith was a self-never came further than Oklahoma, and believed that the world outside of Texas is a cesspool of mixed races, and a mistake about who had built this country, while Black and Latinos reached out and everything begged, not a single day in your life decent had worked, and yet the Jobs of the legitimate inhabitants of the country wanted, and their wives and daughters to boot.”

Attica Locke describes in an impressive way the country and its people. It is an area in which most of the behavior, as a hundred years ago when racial issues. To be respectable means for White here, ladies, the door stop and not to use in mixed company the N-word. On the other hand, the Blacks, the share in Genevas Locally, where the Jukebox the Blues sounds – the title of the novel refers to a Song by John Lee Hooker, a beer or a piece of peach pie news.

So easy as it has Darren in the beginning presented, is not the case of the two murders, the hanging, obviously. There is, in every relationship, not just Black and White. And love does not always takes care of the skin color. And justice there is such a thing: “Perhaps justice was more complex, as Darren was aware, as he had put the brand at the chest, she was ultimately an Illusion, borne of the desire for a clean solution which did not allow of any doubt.”

The Blues sets the rhythm of this wonderful novel, which won the Edgar Award, the most important crime price in the United States. The Story is multi-faceted and exciting feeling tells, at the same time full and hard. “Bluebird, Bluebird” is now one of the books of the year.
