TV: Maria is most known as the musical theater and the Grand Prix artist. She has released five albums, came far in the “Idol” and won the “Stjernekamp” in 2015. Nor does she write many songs myself, so here it is – with one exception – her interpretations as interpreted by the six other artists. Here is tonight’s contribution:
Tom Mathisen: “Tea’ the island of mi” (Tove Karoline Knutsen / Arvid Hanssen)
What is this? Tom is excited, for he is on unsure ground. He should sing in a way he never has sung before, at least publicly: He is serious!
Maria thinks: “Ka e it he should fuck tel with låtan my”? Everyone expects that he’s going to be goofy, and he is dead serious when he sings about the island of “say”, Bjerkøya in Vestfold, Maria from the island of Senja. You can see that she relaxes as he nynner in time with a display with a single visekomp with fiddle and guitar as the driving force. Tom performs Arvid Hanssens great text with fervor and warmth, and celebrates with a small seiersgest when he opens his eyes again and realize that he did it. And see how wide Maria smiles!
Klokkerent is not, but kudos for overraskelsesmomentet. It had to come, and it came in program number three!
Petter “Disaster” Kristiansen: “Glorious” (Ronny Witmark / Anne Judith Wik / Hallgeir Rusty)
See here, yes. Also the man with the somewhat burdensome name to “Disaster” can if he will.
“today I’m going to not do something like that very haraball”, assures him, and have chosen the world cup song from 2011 – that he has given a new, English text, and called “Superb”. It basically is a pompous song has got a completely different package and comes out as a mix of singing and rap with a serious text about the løvetannbarn and “losers” who are not losers.
the Music is more organic than usual, and he dresses well. We excuse nødrim as munnskyll and excuse in an otherwise good text, and states: This did you good!
Elisabeth Andreassen: “Home” (Lisa Nybrott)
Bettan has chosen to make a Swedish version of “Home” – originally written for the tv show “The Hit” in 2014.
When we hear that lets us know that it was not so silly. She does not have many twists and turns and performing the clean and nicely as “orchestrated visepop” – and pretty close to the original. Maybe that’s why she choose to do a twist and sing in Swedish. And nothing wrong about Norwegian, but it sounds and flows great.
the Song is about finding comfort with each other in trying moments. And it has been in bettan ” s life, so it may be this is something more personal for her than usual. It is perhaps an explanation of that she sings with it that feels like an extra fervor. Maybe sing she the to a very special person. This should you take with on the next album, Bettan!
Trine Rein: “Precious to Me” (Phil Seymour)
It originally is a duet with Måns Zelmerlöw is a bit cheap as a rock song without duettpartner.
It opens a little quaint. Carol, carry straight on and the whole okay, but she promises not song a centimeter – and it becomes more regular than it needs to be. Even if she sings well, it is quite pregløst and karaoke-ish. And she is probably never a rocker, no matter how much she tries.
This is only the second time Carol sings (she was hedersgjest the previous Saturday), so we have to hope she gets more to hone on after each.
Sol Heilo: “Hold On Pray Strong” (Mira Craig)
Mary’s biggest hit was the first song Mira Craig wrote, and it gave her a fifth place in the international Grand Prix final in 2008.
But it was a totally different version than the Sun here, a råskåren gospel/soul-like song is to be carried forward as a “call and response” between the Sun and the choir of three. Here you feel transported back to the Stax studios in Memphis in the 60’s.
This is a genre the Sun does not know, but she does a lot of out of the choice of song. Perhaps it is a bit too much of a good thing. A little overtenning. She will so much, and the staccato way of singing is somewhat fast-paced. At the same time, it is extremely refreshing.
Lars Bremnes: “Himmel imella us” (Bernt Rune Stray / Hans Petter Aaserud / Maria Haukaas Mittet)
It lies in the nature of things that the second of this year’s participants from North-Norway select such a song, a kjærlighetslåt on the dialect. no one else in this company can perform such a song with greater credibility than Lars.
He choose to make it simple, maybe too simple – to the violin comes in and promises the something. “When the song is so good, so søng he walking myself”, says Lars. But it is not entirely true. It is beautiful, but also stagnant. He has put his love of this style, and it works not always.
Lars could have easily made more out of the song, but the plus with a pleasant voice you can rely on.
the Next Saturday is the Petter “Disaster” Kristiansens evening.
