Friday’s klimatstrejk held in more than 2,000 cities in over hundred countries. All inspired by the Swedish 16-year-old klimataktivisten Greta Thunberg. The purpose of the manifestations was to get the politicians to speed up efforts to achieve the internationally agreed climate targets.
Stockholm marched thousands of school children from Sergels torg to Mynttorget, where Greta Thunberg was already in place. On Instagram wrote Greta Thunberg that it was over ten thousand skolstrejkare, but two volunteers estimated that it could be between 15.000 and 20.000 demonstrators.
A minute’s silence was held for ”all who have died because of the climate crisis” and then the audience started chanting ”Greta!”, ”Greta!”, ”Greta!” before 16-year-old stepped on stage.
