The Greek Ilias Kantzouris, who led AEK Athens this season, replaces the Italian Massimo Cancellieri on the bench of the Limoges basketball club, the CSP announced on Monday.
Crowned European champion thirty years ago, Limoges went through a tasteless season before scaring themselves with eight defeats in the last ten days which brought them dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Finally fifteenth in the regular season of Elite, the CSP therefore entrusts its destiny to Ilias Kantzouris, who made his debut as an assistant coach in major European clubs such as Kaunas (2011-2012) and Kazan (2013-2014) .
During the last exercise, he led AEK Athens to sixth place in the regular season of the Greek Championship before stopping in the quarter-finals of the play-offs, as in the Champions League (BCL), a competition oscillating between C2 and C3 on the European scene.
In two seasons at the head of the CSP, Massimo Cancellieri qualified Limoges for the Elite play-offs once last year (4th) when his men were stopped in the quarter-finals by Dijon.
