Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten won her third consecutive Tour of Spain on Sunday just nine seconds clear of compatriot Demi Vollering, who won the seventh and final stage.
At 40, the Movistar team champion completes an exceptional record before retiring at the end of the season. While she had a 1 min 11 sec lead in the general classification on Sunday morning, she managed to limit the damage on the last ascent of this Vuelta to finish third in the stage and keep her crown.
