Fourth in the last edition, David Gaudu was aiming for a podium on this Tour de France 2023. But from the first difficulties, the Breton was left behind.
Invited to the France 2 set, David Gaudu returned to the route of this 2023 edition. “A very difficult Tour. Perhaps the most difficult Tour in which I have been able to participate since I have been aligned with the Tour, explains the one who is participating in the race for the sixth year in a row. There are more difficult moments than satisfactions.”
Tenth in the general classification, David Gaudu should complete a second Top 10 in a row in Paris. The Breton is however aware that he is not up to the ambitions displayed. “We were legitimate to aim for a podium when we arrive on the Tour, recalls the leader of Groupama-FDJ. I am at the maximum of what I could and the others in front of me are stronger. The initial goal was perhaps too high. The level has never been so high on the Tour de France.”
