Charles Leclerc (MON / Ferrari), 3rd in the Belgian Grand Prix: “It’s the best result we could achieve today. There is no doubt. Of course, we still hope to win the race, but on the other hand, realistically, we knew that the two Red Bulls would be much faster. Our objective was to maximize the points with the package we had and honestly I don’t think we could have done better today”.
(On Ferrari’s first part of the season): “It didn’t go well. Before the first race, the objective was to take a step further than last year, that is to say to win the world championship. If we look at the first half of the year, we are very far from what we had expected before the season. But as soon as we figured that out, we did a reset and the team reacted amazingly (…). I think we still have to try to figure out some things because if I look back, over the last two races I think we expected the car to be a lot more competitive in Budapest (where he finished 7th , editor’s note) than on a circuit like here. So those are things we have to be careful about, because maybe we haven’t optimized the package in races like Budapest. And maybe we did something surprising on a circuit like this. But it’s good to end the first part of the season on a positive note.
