Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, released from his contract with Valencia, will join Boca Juniors, the Argentinian club announced on its social networks on Saturday.
Cavani, who will wear number 10, will sign a contract until December 2024 and is expected in Buenos Aires in the coming hours to join his new teammates as they prepare for the Copa Libertadores round of 16.
“Happy to have you at home,” the club rejoiced in a message posted on their Twitter account, now “X”, accompanied by a video of some of their goals and their new shirt.
A historic figure in the Uruguayan selection (58 goals in 136 matches), “El Matador” therefore arrives in Argentina after being released from his contract by Valencia and expressing his desire to join Boca Juniors on several occasions.
Passed by Palermo, Naples, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Valencia, Cavani therefore ends his 17-year long stay in Europe, where he will have scored a total of 262 goals.
