Spanish international midfielder Isco, free of any contract, has signed a one-year contract with Betis, the Sevilla club announced on social media on Wednesday. The 31-year-old former Real Madrid player terminated his contract with Sevilla FC last December, where he had arrived three months earlier.

International with La Roja 38 times (twelve goals), Isco spent nine seasons under the colors of Real, and had previously played in Malaga, from 2011 to 2013. “Real Betis has integrated Isco Alarcon into its ranks, writes the club in a press release. The Malagan footballer (from Malaga, editor’s note) has signed up with the green and white club until 2024.

This signing comes two days after the departure of midfielder Sergio Canales (32) to the Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey.

Betis finished sixth in the last Spanish league and will play in the Europa League next season. Isco had time to play nineteen games for Sevilla FC, scoring a goal against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League group stage.
