Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City midfielder who beat Arsenal 4-1 on Matchday 33 of the Premier League, speaking to BT Sports): “We had trained a bit on six-yard clearances and how we could deal with that and create chances for us. As they were defending individually, we had to play longer because we didn’t have the space to play our short passes. The first half was very good, but we could have scored more. Fortunately the second goal was not scored in an offside position and that changed a lot of things. The second half was more balanced, but I don’t think we conceded much. It’s really a class team and difficult to play. We had to be at our best and we were.”
John Stones (Manchester City defender): “I wouldn’t say we had full control of the game, you have to give them a lot of respect and credit. We didn’t play our usual football on both sides. We had a lot of pressure and it was difficult to play our usual passing game and we tried to remedy that by playing on Erling (Haaland) but I think that with the desire we showed and if we had been a bit more precise, we could have scored a few more goals. We are a little disappointed to concede a goal at the end but we are happy to take the three points.
