Australia’s three-quarter center Len Ikitau fractured his scapula against Argentina on Saturday in the Rugby Championship, less than two months before the World Cup in France, the Australian selection announced on Sunday.
“Ikitau is suffering from a broken shoulder blade. It takes six to eight weeks to recover,” tweeted the Wallabies.
Len Ikitau scored the first try of the game, which Australia lost 31-34 on Saturday in Sydney, but he was injured in the action, tackled by Emiliano Boffelli.
The 24-year-old, playing in the Brumbies franchise, will miss at least the Wallabies’ next two matches against New Zealand before departing for France, where the World Cup takes place from September 8 to October 28.
Before their debut against Georgia on September 9, Australia will play a final warm-up match against France on August 27.
Ikitau (26 caps) has established himself as a mainstay for Australia since his debut against France in 2021.
