Australia aren’t thinking about their five-game losing streak as they prepare to face Georgia on Saturday in Paris in Rugby World Cup Pool C, with hooker Dave Porecki saying the environment of the team “feels like a winning environment.”
Coach Eddie Jones’ return to the helm at the start of the year has yet to bear fruit and, after sidelining several confirmed players for the World Cup, he has opted to bring in a number of young people.
“We don’t feel like we’re in an environment where it’s 0-5 right now,” Porecki told reporters on Monday. “I think we all understand the mission for this year, which was to build and freeze a new group.”
“I really feel like we are moving in the right direction. I don’t feel like I’m in a losing environment, but more of a winning environment.”
“We have a good group of youngsters (players) in their first year and they are the ones who are being watched to make sure they are integrating well into the system. And that’s what they’ve done so far.”
