Thirty-two sailors are expected this Saturday in Concarneau to take the start on Monday (11 a.m.) of the Solo Guy Cotten, the last solo event before the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec. The new format of the event, two days of inshore racing (coef 3) and a large offshore race (coef 3, start Wednesday, finish Friday), is ideal and intense for making the final adjustments and gauging yourself among the competitors who are announced the same number on the Solitaire at the end of August.
“It’s a nice vintage for this 2023 edition, rejoices the race director Hervé Gautier. With the arrival of many rookies who already have a good track record in offshore racing, we have sailors from very different backgrounds. We also note the presence of skippers who performed well at the start of the season, such as Corentin Horeau, Guillaume Pirouelle (Normandy Region) or even Charlotte Yven (Skipper Macif 2023) and Elodie Bonafous (Queguiner – La vie en Rose). The latter making her big solo comeback after injuring her knee at the start of the season.
