The German Jannick Hanfmann, 48th in the world, ended the career of veteran Spanish Feliciano Lopez (634th) whom he eliminated 6-2, 6-4 Thursday in the quarter-finals of the Mallorca grass tournament.

At 41, Lopez was clearly dominated for his last match of a career that began in 1997 and during which he reached the 12th rank in the world in 2015 and played the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

He won a total of seven titles and can boast of victories against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic when they were world No.1.

But it is Hanfmann who, after beating defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas (5th) in the first round, will try to reach the final by facing Friday the winner of the Franco-French duel between Adrian Mannarino (43rd) and Corentin Moutet ( 80th).
