Gaëlle Hermet (third line of Les Bleues, beaten 35-33 by England): “When it’s hot, it’s difficult, but what you feel is frustration, disappointment. We managed in one half to catch up with the first 40 minutes where we were non-existent. We knew full well what to expect but defensively, we forgot to go up a bit at times, knowing that it’s a very dense team physically. Perhaps also that we were surprised by the event, it was a final and a world record of spectators. There are several things, no doubt. Their game is very well run, very well oiled, we know them and we have not, at some point, reactivated something, got our hands on the ball and dynamism. Before the second period, what we said was that we must never be discouraged, demotivated, we must show solidarity (after the two cards, editor’s note), these are the words that we, the leaders, have used. And despite all that, we don’t give up. It is therefore this state of mind, this solidarity that must be noted in general. We have a group strength that is being created, we galvanize ourselves for the next deadlines.
