American Katie Ledecky was crowned world champion in the 1500m freestyle on Tuesday in Fukuoka (Japan) and won her twentieth world title at the age of 26.
Ledecky, who largely dominated the distance over which she was already the reigning world champion, offered herself a second podium in Japan after the silver in the 400m on Sunday.
With a time of 15 min 26 sec and 27/100th, she is more than 17 seconds ahead of the Italian Simona Quadarella (15 min 43 sec 31/100th) and the Chinese Li Bingjie (15 min 45 sec 71/100th).
The French Anastasiia Kirpichnikova finished at the foot of the podium, fourth.
