Hungarian Hubert Kos was crowned world champion in the 200m backstroke on Saturday in Fukuoka, Japan, where Frenchman Mewen Tomac finished fourth in 1:55.79. Hubert Kos, 20, wins his very first world title. He beat the American Ryan Murphy, reigning world champion, and the Swiss Roman Mityukov in 1:54.14. This gold medal is the first title for Hungary in these world championships in Japan.
