Frenchwoman Mathilde Gros finished sixth and last in the keirin final at the Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow on Sunday. Fourth last year in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the reigning world champion in individual speed has never managed to join the fight for medals in this Olympic discipline.

One year before the Paris Olympics, the 24-year-old adopted Provençale had experienced a first disappointment in these Worlds with the elimination in team speed from qualifying. She will defend her individual sprint title in qualifying from Monday. The final is scheduled for Wednesday.
