What could be better than spending Valentine’s Day watching Anatomy of a Fall which dissects the relationships of domination within the couple? This is the counter-program that Los Angeles moviegoers can choose. Always imaginative and playful in its Oscar campaign, the American distributor of the Palme d’Or Neon is organizing, on February 14 at the Wallis Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills, an English reading of the screenplay by Justine Triet and Arthur Harari.
Justine Triet will oversee and direct the performances with The Black List founder Franklin Leonard. Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough will take over the role of Sandra Hüller, nominated for the Oscar for best actress. The actress from Daisy And The Six will lend her voice to the ambiguous novelist Sandra, accused of having thrown her husband into the void. This envious husband lacking inspiration will be played by Jay Ellis, seen in Top Gun Maverick. Their son will be played by Kate Berlant. Better Call Saul hero Bob Odenkirk will replace Swann Arlaud and bring to life the pleadings of the “sexiest lawyer in the French Alps”, Vincent. Olivia Wilde, Danny Ramirez, Isaiah Quincy are also part of the adventure.
The only hero from the original cast to return, according to the press release? The canine star Messi who plays Snoop, little Daniel’s guide dog. Will this unique representation make an American producer want to attempt a remake in the style of Antoinette dans les Cévennes which will see an adaptation with Toni Colette?

Released in the United States in October, Anatomy of a Fall found its audience there with 4.25 million dollars in revenue at the North American box office. Its five Oscar nominations, notably in the flagship categories best film, screenplay and direction, have boosted attendance. Between Killers Of The Flower Moon, Poor Creatures and Oppenheimer, the competition will be tough but the Palme d’Or can hope to triumph in the best original screenplay section.
The Palme d’Or, nominated eleven times for the Césars, is also able to make waves at the Bafta (the English Césars). The legal drama is on track in seven categories on February 18.
