Rapper Smudo (54) from the Fantastischen Vier survived the operation after his stage accident in Bonn. “Off home. Thank you community hospital Bonn for the hospitality, care and humor,” the musician wrote on Instagram on Sunday and posted a photo that shows him in a casual pose with sunglasses, a cap and a crutch.

The rapper was injured on Friday during the addition of a performance by the Fantastischen Vier in front of 14,000 spectators on the Hofgartenwiese. “There are worse places to jump through the patellar tendon than at the end of the tour on stage,” said Smudo in a post late Saturday evening. In it he thanked everyone for the “touching wishes for a recovery” and apologized for the fact that the concert planned for Saturday in Osnabrück had to be cancelled.

“OP this morning went 1a. mood is good. 6 weeks on track,” the rapper informed his fans. Smudo, whose real name is Michael Bernd Schmidt, has lived in Hamburg for decades. The Fantastischen Vier (“Die Da!?!”) are regarded as the pioneers of German recitative, and in 1989 the band gave their first concert under this name. His bandmates also wished Smudo a speedy recovery.
