A day before the cabinet dealt with the corona protection measures for the fall, Bavaria demanded changes to the coalition’s proposal. “We have not yet received any signals from Berlin that the justified criticism from the federal states will be taken into account,” said Bavaria’s Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) of the Düsseldorf “Rheinische Post” on Tuesday. “If the federal government stubbornly sticks to its draft, the chancellor can in future save himself from making statements about an alleged ‘joint project’.”
In particular, Holetschek rejected the planned exceptions to the mask requirement indoors. “The requirement that, in the event of a mask requirement indoors, there must be exceptions for tested, ‘freshly’ vaccinated and recovered people cannot be implemented in prison,” he said. “Therefore, they must be dispensed with.”
Even when defining the criteria for when the states should take further measures, “we states are finally demanding clear information from the federal government,” said Bavaria’s Minister of Health. “Otherwise there is a risk of a split interpretation of the federal regulations in the individual countries.”
On Wednesday, the cabinet is to adopt a proposal for the new Infection Protection Act. The previous Infection Protection Act, which forms the legal basis for measures against the corona pandemic, expires at the end of September.
