In 2018, El Ejido was the stronghold for VOX. It was also one of the few municipalities in which he won and had almost three more points than the PP. This is why we focused on the municipality to see if the muscle demonstrated in previous elections was still maintained four years later. We also wanted to know if the campaign where Macarena Olona was elected as its candidate, and if it would have produced results, or if the poor image that he had in the two-and-a half years he was part the municipal government, could have taken its toll.
It is clear that Santiago Abascal’s message has not been able to attract more supporters in Ejido. Its results show a decline of nearly two points over previous regional elections. 27.76% today, compared with 29.51% four year ago. And it still remains the second political force after a PP which has not only resurfaced but has also increased its results by more than 20% four years ago.
Popular ones now have more than 47.56% of the votes, up from 26.91% in 2018. This would indicate the satisfaction of voters with Juanma Moreno’s government over the past four years.
Ciudadanos, on the other hand, collapses and vanishes with 2.77% votes. This compares to 16.18% in previous elections. That is, it has received only 711 votes and lost 3,333 votes compared to four year ago. It is clear that the orange party has been dissolved internally since the last national election. This has created a cascade of voters who have lost confidence in their ability to cast a vote.
The case of the Socialists also shows a slight loss in support. They now have 14.54% of the votes in these elections from 15.8% in 2018. This is a decrease of 1.26%.
This has led to a decline in participation in Ejido’s municipal elections in Andalusian. In 2018, 54.98% of the population voted, while 54.98% voted. However, absolute numbers show that the number has increased due to an increase in population over the past four years.
