Alcala la Real’s City Council has cleared out all waste that had been building up for many years on two lots close to the municipal sports center. After a prolonged intervention lasting for over a month, both enclosures were completely cleared. In total, 18 large-capacity containers were filled with more than 700 cubic metres of material. The City Council had reached an agreement before the eviction. It was with the company that would manage and treat the belongings left in these municipal lots.
The Works and Services staff coordinated the cleaning staff. This process also affected the cemetery site.
The City Council was concerned about the deplorable appearance of these areas that had not been cleaned up in years. This created a focal point of infection and encouraged more action. We want to engage the public in this effort. Keeping Alcala clean requires not only economic or human resources, but also education and awareness.
A new agreement was also reached with the company responsible for managing the waste to prevent it from accumulating on roads and other unauthorised areas. This will allow for a more efficient and organized action protocol.
