Hidralia, the Roquetas de Mar water supply company and sewage concession firm, is currently carrying out maintenance work on various sections of sanitation pipes within the Aguadulce region. This includes conditioning pipes with a milling robotic, a robot capable of clearing any obstruction from the tube.
A robot is being used to remove roots and accumulations of concrete and iron rods, grease, calcareous and mineralized sediments from pipes. There are a number of conditions that hinder the network’s hydraulic potential.
The appearance of roots from nearby trees is one of the most significant causes of blocked sanitation pipes. They seek moisture and penetrate the pipes to clog them over time.
After having inspected the streets of Cerezo and Santa Monica with video cameras, Plaza Brisamar, Plaza Brisamar, Calle Virgen del Carmen in the Aguadulce region, Hidralia will move on to milling. This is the process of removing roots from pipes. It is estimated that Hidralia has done this for approximately 300m, according to IDEAL.
Pipe cleaning
To begin the rehabilitation work, a thorough cleaning of pipes is required. Then, the milling can be started and the areas that need it will be done. The work can be concluded by recording the collected material to confirm that it is in good condition.
These works are expected to continue, which will result in an increase in hydraulic capacity and performance of the sanitation system. Company sources pointed out that there are some works that can also help to reduce the risks of accidents and solve problems arising from traffic jams.
Hidralia’s dedication to sensorization of the city’s networks for monitoring, to know the state of the pipes in real time, the installation of rain gauges that have real-time data about the accumulation of precipitation, and alert systems, meteorological tools that allow for action in advance in case of heavy rains.
It uses a variety of tools to try to improve the resilience of Roquetas as well as adapt to climate change. There are episodes of intense rains, which alternate with periods of drought.
Sources from companies indicated that they recognize the importance of “betting on digital transformation” and innovation in order to realize service management that is both efficient and sustainable.
He cited the example of the robot being used in the integration of technological advances. Roquetas is continuing to make steps to become a smart city. This means that technology and data analysis are combined to improve services, reduce energy consumption, and lower environmental impact.
Hidralia stated that “robots, resources, such as trenchless technology, have become a priority in pipeline maintenance work. This allows such work to be done while minimising the impact on environment and the inconvenience to neighbors by not needing to open ditches, or undertake deep works. “This was explained by the concessionaire.
