Andujar City Council initiated a participative process to publish details of the project for pedestrianization and humanization of Plaza de Espana and Plaza de la Constitucion. This was co-financed by Next Generation European Funds through a grant that was awarded within the framework of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan of Government of Spain.
This project will intervene in the iconic space of the city. It aims to unify both squares with urban design elements and green areas. Stays for coexistence
Pedro Luis Rodriguez, Mayor, deems this an ambitious project that will transform and revalue the historic center of Andujar. It has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest. This intervention is intended to improve the city’s appeal to residents and tourists..
This remodeling is also in compliance with the Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition. It will improve air quality and reduce emissions. New tree areas and fountains will also be created.
“Given the relevant action, we intend to have citizens take a leading role in the final design. The councilor stated that it is important for neighbors to be involved as a large portion of the city’s life takes place in this space.
The future intervention in Tercia and Isidoro Minon streets will complement this action. This action aims to improve accessibility to Andujar’s center by expanding the itineraries, and meet the urban mobility needs.
