The National Institute of Statistics confirms the increase in the CPI for May to 8.7% year-on-year, as a result of increases in food and fuel prices, as advanced by the data advanced on May 30. Gasoline and food prices are at 26-year highs. Core inflation (excluding food and energy) is also confirmed at 4.9%, almost four points below the general CPI, but at the highest since October 1995.
